Barbara McClellan > Father 05.24.2012


Lyle Edward McClellan was born on February 16, 1924 to Edward and Elsie (Livingston) McClellan. He lived in Forada and attended school there as a boy. He enlisted in the Navy in October.

On September 24, 1946, Lyle was united in marriage to Jeanette Kasemaker in Portland, OR. Lyle worked as a lifeguard at city park, a turkey farm, and 34 years at Land O’ Lakes in Alexandria where he retired. His hobbies were: gardening, hunting, fishing, horses, and playing cards with family and friends.

Lyle passed away on May 24, 2012 at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; sister, Leta Cummings; brother, Wayne McClellan. Lyle is survived by his daughters, Patty Rosenbach, Barbara (Ken Ringler) Lolkus, Joyce (Gus) Klingbeil, Linda McClellan; son, Rodney (significant other, Marlys Botzet) McClellan; sisters, Mabel Hall of Portland, OR and Gladys (Edward) Bollen of Eugene, OR; seven grandkids, Todd Klingbeil, Shawn Klingbeil, Missy Roberts, Julie Nohre, Robyn Brenden, Amber McClellan-Beliveau, and Jodie Tatro; and 16 great-grandkids.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend David Wangaard officiating. Inurnment was held at Hudson Cemetery in Hudson Township. Military Honors were provided by the Alexandria American Legion Post 87, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 936 and the Minnesota National Honor Guard. Honorary urn bearers were Lyle’s grandchildren, Todd Klingbeil, Shawn Klingbeil, Missy Roberts, Julie Nohre, Robyn Brenden, Amber McClellan-Beliveau, and Jodie Tatro.

Warren Engelbrecht > Mother 05.03.12

                          Mayme Anna (Dynda) Engelbrecht, 88, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Knute Nelson.
Mayme was born September 14, 1923 in Lake Mary Township, Douglas County, to John and Barbara (Koubsky) Dynda. She attended District 13 country school in Lake Mary Township through the eighth grade.
Mayme was united in marriage to Ralph Engelbrecht on July 7, 1942 at the Hostess House in Alexandria. The couple farmed in Lake Mary Township and was blessed with two children, Phyllis and Warren. Mayme worked alongside Ralph, milking cows, picking rocks, driving tractor, gardening and was head of the “Barn Council,” which convened every morning before chores. She continued to live on the farm until a year ago when she moved into Knute Nelson.
Mayme was a member of the Forada Seniors Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making kolaches, pies, raisin cookies and made a wonderful potato salad. She also enjoyed playing games, bingo and many different card games. Most important to Mayme were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to spend time with them and spoil them.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Jerome) Hustad of Gilbert; son, Warren (Norma) Engelbrecht of Alexandria; grandchildren, Greg (Kimberly) Hustad, Douglas Hustad, Darren (Tara) Engelbrecht, Karen (Steve) Bundermann, Lisa (Mike) Lennes, Ryan (Courtney) Engelbrecht; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Landa of Glenwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Mayme was preceded in death by her parents, John and Barbara; husband, Ralph; and sister, Lillian Brezina.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 8 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with the Rev. Jim Oakland officiating. Music was provided by Kim Byrne. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Darren Engelbrecht, Ryan Engelbrecht, Greg Hustad, Douglas Hustad, Steve Bundermann and Mike Lennes.
