Allen Springer > Father June 11, 2011

Lloyd Springer was born March 29, 1923 in Ponsford, the son of Charles and Gladys (Stowell) Springer. In 1933 the family moved to Eagle Bend. In 1939 Lloyd finished school and moved to Arizona. In the spring of 1943 Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country in the South Pacific as a radio operator. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he moved to Alexandria, where he worked for one year, then up to Big Fork for a year where he worked with his brother in a service station.
Returning to Alexandria in 1948 on June 11 he married Grace Schultz, and Lloyd began a successful career in the sheetrock and gunsmith business, where he continued to reside and enjoy his hobbies of hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren until his death on June 11, 2011 at his home. He loved having the church in the home.
Lloyd is survived by his sons, Allen (Sarah) Springer of Lewistown, Montana, Alden (Karen) Springer of Alexandria; one daughter, Carol (David) Prentice of Alexandria; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Francis Springer of Boulder City, Nevada.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1999; parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
A funeral service was held Thursday, June 16 at Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria with leaders Ron Tomke, Roy Williams and Harriet Cossentine officiating. Charlene Myers provided the music.
Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Alden Springer, Allen Springer, Shawn Prentice, David Prentice, Ryan Prentice, Troy Springer and Roy Springer. Honorary pallbearers were all of Lloyd’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
