Diane Mounsdon > Father 04.11.2014

     Lamont Russell Mounsdon was born on February 6, 1923, the son of Russell and Rose Mounsdon. When Lamont was a young child his family moved to Iowa where they lived a short while and then moved back to Alexandria. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1941. After graduation he worked on his parents farm until entering the Army with the start of WWII in 1944. He was a staff Sargent in the Pacific Zone. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Upon returning from the service he was united in marriage to Phyllis Henriksen on November 3, 1946. After their marriage they moved by Lake Henry where they resided until his death. Lamont worked in construction work with his father until 1954, when he then joined the Alexandria Police force. He retired from the Police force in 1979. He was also named Police Officer of the Year this same year.
After retirement he and Phyllis toured many states exhibiting at art and craft sales. They retired the second time in 2000. Phyllis and Lamont met and made many friends during their travels.
Lamont died on Friday, April 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons: Craig (Elaine), Keith (Gaye); daughter, Diane (Curt); seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sisters: Lorraine Sturnick and Joyce Jacobson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria with Rev. Jeff Hanson officiating. Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.
