Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater, MN for Rodney Ralph Bunting, age 62, of Clearwater, MN who died on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home. Pastor John E. Martison of Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN will be officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Scott Gjevre of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater officiating.
Rodney was born on November 8, 1948 in Madison, MN the son of Raymond and Alma (Schumacher) Bunting. He lived with his family in Nassau, MN where he attended school and his family later moved to Alexandria, MN where he graduated from high school in 1967. He then attended the University of Minnesota Morris for one year before enlisting into the U.S. Air Force in 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Jane M. Anderson on June 6¸ 1970 in Alexandria, MN. Rodney continued to serve his country state side as an aircraft maintenance technician and obtained the rank of Sergeant before receiving his honorable discharge on January 11, 1973. He then went on to attend and graduate from Alexandria Technical College in 1975.
He worked for three years as a deputy county auditor for Douglas County in Alexandria. He then moved to St. Cloud, MN where he worked for CCSI and later CPSI in Brooklyn Park, MN. These two companies installed computer software in county auditor offices.
Then Rodney and Jane started R & R Hobbies Shop in St. Cloud. They owned and operated this business from 1988 until 2001. While owning the hobby shop he also worked as a Deputy County Auditor for Wright County from 1992 until 1997. He then went to work as the Chief Deputy County Auditor in 1997. A position he currently held.
His hobbies included model trains, collecting Hot Wheels, sightseeing, participating in flea markets, and taking pictures of trains.
He is survived by: his wife Jane of Clearwater, two children, his son Ryan (Tina) of Clearwater, MN, and his daughter Rita Bunting of Brooklyn, NY, one granddaughter Emma and one grandson Rylie, and one brother Russell (Sheba) Bunting of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
